All this info is very helpful. Do not give up. One note I have to add is that sadly, my injured pet was picked up by a police officer who brought her to an emergency clinic that, as it turned out did NOT scan for microchips. Nor did the police officer report it to Animal Control which logs in all animals that are picked up dead or alive. The clinic also did not contact Animal Control although after inquiries I found that they sent them a bill. Sadly my kitty was euthanized and the only way I found out was from GOING DOOR TO DOOR with flyers that I had printed up. One last note, I payed $650 to have a lady named Landa search for my cat with her bloodhound. It turns out that the dog followed the scent of a different cat altogether and sent me in a totally wrong direction. From witness statements(witnesses who did see my posters but didn't call!) it was evident that my injured cat could never had made it to the area she led me to. I asked for a small refund but even though she did agree to it, she never sent it. I caution people about using this type of search. Once again going door to door with flyers was the only way I was able to find out what happened.
